Dell Ultrasmart U2410

All for the eyes,  I had to take this step to get myself a fresh view and vision for working prolonged hours on the pictures. After all the long wait and looking after what would really fit all my needs and my monies I had to settle with a Dell Ultrasmart 2410. From the suggestions of my near and dear Puneet & Adam I had to call it a deal to settle for this now.

24″ Monitor that comes pre-calibrated with company certificate, means no hassle for getting it calibrated. Waiting anxiously for it to arrive as I booked it to be delivered on Saturday I got it quite on time by 0900hrs pretty sharp delivery by the courier company. I ordered the monitor from and they have been helpful in providing the information needed for pre-sales questions.

Heres a quick glance on the unboxing of the much awaited bigger screen.

Eyes – Precious gift

Ever felt how our eyes must feel like providing us the vision to embrace this world in all of its beautiful colours around us. It is very simple that we do not acknowledge the fact that our bodies are like little temple which needs to be given that attention so we can keep enjoying the gifts we have. One such thing I want to talk about is the eyes.

On average each one of us spend hours sitting in front of digital screen that makes our eyes stressed out without us being aware that we even forget to blink our eyes. Facts state that we have changed our biological clock so much that it is impossible to be back in time where we can retain our original state of physical wellbeing.
After these prolonged hours and red nerves popping out in the eyes – I have made myself clear that this Laptop and small digital screens are no way to live your life but if that is how you make your bread and butter you need to think about something. Our eyes need more relaxed environment to work on. I decided to give myself that much needed respite from small Laptop screen and go for something big.  A 24” Dell Ultra smart 2410 monitor to pleasure myself for those prolonged working hours.
I do not know how much better I will feel but I definitely will keep an update on how much it helps in terms of relaxing the eyes.

BYOC(2011): BYOD(2012): BYOO!!??

Consumerisation has engulfed the businesses like no one else. Apple first came with the idea of these devices based on their success of predecessor iPhone. It was not assumed at that time what future may lead us to. Future of devices is far from over yet but they have just added another star in their present books. Most devices whether Android or smartphones or Tablets have just made the human lives filled with technological changes which keep us surrounded all the time with influx of knowledge, news and happenings from all the plethora of life.

In the past two days I have seen this word BYOD going over the web like crazy for the people that work in enterprise environments. Being an IT person, it does not surprise me but it now about to surpass me for how the enterprise believe it can increase the productivity of the employees. In a reference to this article BBC had quite interesting facts mentioned in their article today but they seem more to me as a gimmick to keep you interested in your job with lots of entertainment toys. For a full read (

I received an email from our CEO saying that we are not saying NO to the personal devices but we will allow them to be used as per the company policies. Simply making us easy to work from wherever we would like to and how we would want to. It is making you more aware of what you can do with your time and it is not too far that I can already see the next thing of future will be BYOO (Bring Your Own Office) which simply means you have your work space just like WFH(Work From Home) enlightened our work habits.

I do not feel quite at home with this BYOD at a moment. The survey(as done by Cisco) shows that “We found globally that 40% of college students and 45% of employees would accept a lower paying job with a choice of device”  It is more about killing your worth by letting you spend more time working or socializing on your devices without knowing your own next desk colleague.

I saw it booming with the consumer markets. I saw them in the train, tube or on the streets of London which now will even walk into the lives of workspace letting us feel like total invaders. I find these devices more of toys than the real work machines. Companies are embracing this as a new step towards global consumerisation but I am not personally seeing this as a very productive move. You cannot ask the employees to join them for less pay if they bring their own devices. Interesting enough, I would want to hear your opinion on this.
